Since readers and advertisers shape and determine what Broadcast Dialogue is all about, this section should more correctly be entitled: ABOUT YOU.
Broadcast Dialogue is the brand name for three services: The Broadcast Dialogue magazine; the Broadcast Dialogue Electronic Briefing; and, the Broadcast Dialogue Website.
– BROADCAST DIALOGUE Magazine
This content-rich publication serves ALL constituents of the Canadian broadcasting industry and its related sectors. Fresh, essential and thought-provoking articles in the areas of programming, engineering, industry issues and people are delivered in a timely and relevant fashion. Printed and in the mail to readers by the beginning of each edition’s current month, Broadcast Dialogue magazine is managed, edited and written by broadcasters. Our close relationships with most of Canada’s top broadcasters lends an extraordinary level of credibility. It truly is a matter of broadcasters talking to broadcasters. The controlled-circulation Broadcast Dialogue magazine has a Direct Request rate of more than 80%, an astounding achievement as verified by the Audit Bureau of Circulations. Subscribers, through “direct request,” personally ask to be on our distribution list.
– BROADCAST DIALOGUE Weekly Briefing
The Broadcast Dialogue Weekly Briefing is e-mailed to subscribers every
Wednesday evening, 48 weeks a year. It provides an executive read of
broad-based industry news for members of the Canadian broadcast
community’s mid- to upper-management levels. If the magazine is the
equivalent of TV’s “60 minutes”, then the paid-circulation Broadcast
Dialogue Weekly Briefing is the “newscast” of industry affairs. And it
has been since May of 1992. The Broadcast Dialogue Weekly Briefing keeps broadcast management, consultants, associations, engineers, suppliers, manufacturers and related industry managers in the loop on all matters of import to the broadcasting craft.
The Broadcast Dialogue website – which you’re now well into – provides a
broad range of interest and enhanced dialogue capabilities to all of our
respective broadcast audiences, no matter in which areas of the industry
they work. We have on-line version of the Broadcast Dialogue magazine
(both digital ands pdf), the Broadcast Dialogue Weekly Briefing, news
release sections for both broadcasters and suppliers, and an area for
engineering white papers and related information. But you probably
already know all this because checking out ABOUT US is usually the place
to visitors go.
Why is Broadcast Dialogue called Broadcast Dialogue?
From the outset, it was important that we create a dialogue within the industry. That we have accomplished this goal is reflected in the quality of the high-profile contributors who provide their insightful thoughts and recommendations, based on hands-on experience. Thus we became “The Voice of Broadcasting in Canada,” a motto inspired by reader feedback.
Who are the people behind Broadcast Dialogue?
Howard Christensen
– is the publisher. After a long career in broadcast journalism for the
likes of Broadcast News in Toronto, CFRB Toronto, CJAD Montreal, CHUM
Toronto, CHYM Kitchener, CKVR-TV Barrie, CHAM Hamilton and CKJD Sarnia,
he moved into serving the broadcast community from this other capacity.
“We’re not publishers,” he says. “We’re broadcasters who just happen to
publish.” If you wish to submit an article or share news items from your

Regular Columnists and Contributors
Broadcast Dialogue has achieved its high level of acceptance in large part because of our regular columnists – all acknowledged experts in their professional fields. Selected guest contributors, who come from all sectors and professional fields of the broadcast industry, round out the extended Broadcast Dialogue team. By harnessing the knowledge and expertise of all individuals, Broadcast Dialogue has earned its motto: “The Voice of Broadcasting in Canada”.
