MANAGER OF RADIO FREQUENCY AND WIRELESS APPLICATIONS -- OLYMPIC BROADCAST SERVICES, VANCOUVER
OLYMPIC BROADCASTING SERVICES VANCOUVER (OBSV). As a wholly owned subsidiary of Olympic Broadcast Services (a management company set up by the IOC) OBSV was created to serve as the host broadcaster for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. As host broadcaster, OBSV is responsible for producing and distributing the unbiased radio and television coverage for the Olympic Winter Games. In conjunction with this coverage, OBSV also provides various facilities and services to international broadcasting companies which are commonly referred to as the Rights Holding Broadcasters.
Job Description
The Manager of Radio Frequency and Wireless Applications’ role is a hands-on position focused on the establishment and maintenance of OBSV’s Broadcast Wireless Applications. Responsibilities will include coordinating and managing the planning of the Radio Frequencies as well as Wireless transmission services to support the Host Coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympics Games in accordance with OBSV and Rights Holding Broadcaster needs.
Duties/Responsibilities
· Coordinate and manage use of Spectrum in cooperation with the Spectrum Management Committee
· Selection of RF vendors for specialized applications of indoor and outdoor sports events
· Coordinate and implement RF instruments at venues, including testing process and pre-installation
· Test and troubleshoot to component level, using test procedures, data sheets, schematics and verbal instructions
· Recognize failures and/or setup problems and determine need for appropriate verification
· Operate oscilloscopes, meters, power supplies, spectrum analyzers, signal generators and radio communications test equipment
· Liaise with rights holding broadcasters to advise of frequency allocations and approval procedures that apply
Qualifications/Relevant Experience
· 5-7 years recent and related RF experience including solid expertise manually testing and troubleshooting audio and/or video products (transmitters, receivers, amplifiers and antennae) to component level
· Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with focus in Telecommunications is an asset
· Strong digital RF transmitter and/or receiver theory. Wireless video and antennae theory
· Excellent engineering experience in Broadcast video, audio and control applications. Understanding of HD-SDI, SDI and their application is essential.
· Proficiency with oscilloscopes, meters, power supplies, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, etc
· Experience in COFDM, its applications and implementation as a land based instrument or airborne instrument
· Experience in a Broadcasting organization, and exposure to large-scale international sporting projects (e.g. Olympics, World Cup) is an asset

ENGINEER - CKX-TV BRANDON
CKX-TV seeks a full-time Engineer to maintain and perform preventative maintenance on all electronic and IT equipment in our television facility as well as transmitters and tower sites. Specific duties include the installation, maintenance and repair of all types of broadcast equipment, transmitters and tower sites; and IT support.
Qualified candidates hold an Electronics Technology diploma or similar, have strong diagnostic and analytical skills, good mechanical skills, and working knowledge of computer hardware and software. Must have strong organization skills, attention to detail and the ability to follow up on assignments and projects. Knowledge of digital and analogue broadcast equipment and previous experience with video, audio and RF equipment preferred, but CKX-TV will train on specific equipment. A valid class 5 or equivalent driver’s license is essential.

K-Rock 105-7, Kingston’s Rock station and market leader is looking for the next morning show to continue the heritage of K-Rock in K-Town. K-Rock is a promotional monster so the show is not over at 9am and in summer there is always something on the go, sometimes boat cruises, sometimes golf.
Reporting to the Operations Manager the successful candidate will:
· Drive a daily high profile adult rock radio morning show.
· Represent K-Rock in the community at a ton of events.
· Prep, write, produce and entertain adults 25-54.
· Steer the show with all the elements and personalities.
· Develop strategies for each show.
· Work with sales to maximize revenue potential.
· Uphold the goodwill of the show and station in the community.
· Quarterback the radio station.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
· Seasoned and experienced as a morning host, preferably in a rock format.
· Self motivated and prepared to deliver compelling and engaging entertainment.
· A sense of maturity and depth to communicate to adults.
· Know what to say but also what not to say.

Our services include a digital broadcast-ready Portable People Meter system and diary surveys for our 100+ radio and television markets.
Technical Broadcast Consultants (2)
Responsible for the installation and maintenance of PPM (Personal People Meters) Encoding equipment in Network Television and Radio locations, as well as other non-broadcast encoding applications.
Locations: Calgary, Alberta AND Vancouver, B.C.
Start Date: Mid to end August 2008
Responsibilities:
· Manages the installation and maintenance of equipment at identified stations
· Partners with technical contacts at broadcast facilities to organize placement of equipment for proper operation
· Ensures that equipment is installed correctly and evaluations are completed by the broadcasters on schedule
· Confirms the proper operation of encoding equipment
· Responds to and corrects encoding problems according to established schedules and protocols
· Evaluates procedures to ensure that they remain current with changes in technology and/or regulatory changes
· Provides support and technical advice to broadcasters on various issues
· Liaises with suppliers/manufacturers for technical information, parts and replacement equipment
· Orders supplies for service calls and installations
· Investigates and repairs faulty units by examining equipment returned from the field, testing and restoring them, as required
· Makes routine decisions within the scope of the job related to encoding or monitoring and refers unusual situations to the Chief Technical Officer
· Must be available to work on short notice, including evenings and weekends
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A post-secondary degree in engineering (or equivalent) and a minimum of five years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Have the ability to coordinate multiple individuals to accomplish installation and operational goals. Have a working technical knowledge of TV and radio broadcast facilities, professional audio/video equipment, broadcast system connections, AES and SDI signals and related environments. The successful candidate must be able to work responsibly with minimal supervision to accomplish encoding installations and capable of troubleshooting technical and operational broadcast systems.
